dr. webb ( in it to win it, amazing race winners 2007)

Look lindsay i found dr webbs sign!....oh wait, maybe i should put my glasses on.....oh haha there it is. silly me- maybe its time for an eye exam...if only i knew where to go...hmmm ;0)

elvis has not left the building

When i saw that one of our tasks was to get our picture taken with Elvis i was already planning a trip to Memphis. who wouldn't want to head out to Graceland? but then i remembered we had to stay in Bartholomew county :( so i put on my thinking cap and remembered that Sadie's was the place to be. being the huge Elvis fan that i am i knew they would be able to help us with this task. its like an Elvis museum in there. when we came in and asked for a picture with the king they looked at us funny for a minute and then we explained that we were there for the amazing race. they said oh ok....wait...what is the amazing race? so we talked to them for a few minutes to explain what the race was. we are pro's at explaining this at this point. we have had to explain this to probably half of the people we have seen out on our tasks. once we explain what we are doing people get really excited and they want to know more about it. we always offer the website so the community can keep tabs on us. so even though we didn't make it to Graceland we were more than pleased to find Elvis right here in Columbus!

we are river rats

We decided to be honorary river rats for the day. we headed down to river rat grove and decided to unravel. we ( Lindsay) climbed some trees and then decided to take a nap on the bench. it was such a beautiful day out. a prefect time to enjoy mill race park! it was also nice to get a pic of skopos. the last pic we took was on the 7 wonders tour earlier in the race but it was right after the flood and as we all know skopos was missing, so all we got was the concrete base. unfortunately i cant put that picture on here because we have been without power for the last 5 days following the wind storm. it does make it more difficult to use the Internet but we have pulled together as a team and used every resource we could to get these pictures on here. hope you enjoy!

A wee bit o' scottish fun

This was our first trip to the Scottish festival. We had a lot of fun and i think that this will definitely be on our agendas in the future! although 50-70 mph winds + kilts = not a pretty picture, but all in all we had a blast. we got to enjoy a bagpipe parade, get our pics taken with Nessie ( who knew she was here all along, lol) and we even braved the meat pies. although i decided to go without the haggis. speaking of haggis we thought about doing the haggis tossing contest but with the wind again we thought maybe we shouldn't. no one wants to end up with haggis on their faces, and no matter how much begging we couldn't convince my husband to enter the bonnie knees contest. i have a friend in the Columbus city band who moved here from Scotland in 1972 and he said that my family last name could be Scottish so i think for next year i will do a little research and see what i can come up with. i did see a sign ( which is in the picture above) that said "Owens family st" but i think its for the fair :0)

drive in movie

Here we are at the drive-in movie.i thought i would make of this and invite my sister-in-law and my nieces. the girls love this movie so i thought it would be fun to watch it outside in the park. we had no idea that there were going to be so many fun things to do prior to the movie. the girls got their faces painted, they got to pet a baby pig, ride ponies and learn about owls that have been rescued. we also got lots of safety tips and good ideas for kids from businesses around the community. we ran into the justice league and stopped to pose for a picture. then we parked and got ready for the movie. the tans pulled in next to us after a long trip back from Pittsburgh and we got to enjoy the movie together. it was a fun time!

hospice concert

Judy and i volunteered to help set up for the hospice concert this year. unfortunately Lindsay had to work that day but we managed without her. as we were walking over to the park we were stopped by some girls wanting to ride the people trails but they were lost.luckily we had some experience with the people trails thanks to the amazing race. taking the trails was one of our tasks last year and the 7 wonders tour also brushes on it this year. so we were glad to be able to help these out-of-towners and explain what the amazing race was. once we got to the park we helped put together boxes then put in two trash bags in each and then distribute around mill race park. as you can see above i almost lost Judy in a sea of trash cans but eventually we got her out and away we went. we had to really flex our muscles holding up that hospice sign but it was well worth it :) we got to know the coca cola delivery guy a little and we got to talk to some of the hospice volunteer coordinators. it was nice to know that we were helping such a good cause!

East vs North

i you can pick your friends, and you can pick your nose but you cant pick your friends' nose...or wait, maybe you can.lol
sara beth is so patriotic :0)
think this was when brittany thought they got a home run, haha its ok brit!

Well since lindsay and i both are from seymour, and brittany is from crothersville (where they dont have a football team) we werent sure who to cheer for. since judy and sara beth went to east we decided we would wear their team colors ( all the way down to the toe polish lol). we had some good team spirit for the majority of us not being from east columbus. although we didnt dress nearly as crazy as some of the high schoolers. we wont go into that. then a huge storm cloud came over and it started pouring down rain. so after the game we decided to go puddle jumping. by the time we got home we were all soaking wet. and someone ran into me as we were working through the crowd and "smurfed" me, appearantly they thought i needed to have some north spirit. but all in all it was a fun night and it looks like we cheered for the right team!
